Over in Park City, Utah, they are currently freezing their asses off going from cinema to cinema enjoying all that the Sundance Film Festival has to offer. As well as an important opportunity to see new names on the screen, it’s a huge schmoozefest. Major distribution companies come down to see what they can buy for a couple of bucks and turn into a mint.
There is a definitive list of what’s on over on AfterEllen. There is some great stuff on offer, but when will you get to see it? We’re always a bit slow to get stuff over to Ireland as, let’s be honest, we’re not the biggest market in the world. However, look out for Outlook (see what I did there?) in Cork in November, Dublin’s Gaze in August and Belfast’s Queen’s Festival in October.
Those I’m most looking forward to are, My Idiot Brother, which has Rashida Jones, and Zooey Deschanel playing a lesbian couple. Woot! Then there is the wonderfully-named Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same by Madeleine Olnek, with whom we will have an interview during the week.
Where do you see LGBT films? Do you wait for them to some to a festival near you?
